My name is Faith Bourgeacq and I live in Des Moines, Iowa. I am so glad you came to my page!
I am currently a Junior at Drake University, with a double major in Multimedia Journalism and Strategic Political Communications. I am also seeking a minor in Public Relations.
Since starting college in the Fall of 2018, I have been involved in a number of internships and organizations. Last year, I interned with the non-partisan organization Vote Smart, for which I collected and disseminated unbiased and in-depth information from public statements, speeches, and legislative voting history of hundreds of elected officials and candidates nationwide, to help the public make informed voting decisions. Through my time with Vote Smart, I contributed hundreds of data and copy-write to their website, as well as met with staff members to discuss social media trends and search-engine demographics. I ended the internship being named a Top Researcher in both accuracy and sufficiency.
My most recent internship was with CNN in January 2020, where my role was to assist CNN personnel preparing for the National Democratic Party’s Presidential Debate at Drake University, and to greet all of the candidates as they arrived on campus and take them to the debate venue. I worked with CNN staff to help ensure the event ran smoothly and on schedule.
With these experiences, I hope to pursue a career in political journalism. Many people have lost their faith in the media, and I want to change the way people view and digest the news they receive. Unbiased, factual journalism is one of the most important things to me, and I cannot wait to see where this career takes me.
On a personal note, I am also involved in a lot of hobbies that I am extremely passionate about. I dabble in graphic design, speed painting (painting portraits of people in 60 seconds or less), Mac and Cheese making, and true-crime podcasts. I also have competed in pageants for the last four years, and have held numerous titles in different pageant systems (Miss Grand Iowa 2020, Miss Corridor 2018, Miss Metro 2019, and currently Miss Des Moines USA). I will be competing in the summer for the title of Miss Iowa USA, and hope to someday be Miss USA so that I can further promote my platform of political engagement in the United States.
Thank you so much for reading my blog!
